Yeah, it looks like a couple of bozo’s bidding on domains over at Godaddy have gone a bit crazy. I mean, then are pissing on each other to the tune of $1k plus for PR5 domains.
CRAZY!!
But more important..
Godaddy just make another change to the pricing structure in the Firesale bin.
It use to be that all of those domains could be bought up for $5 each. (on top of registration fee)
Then about six months ago, someone over at Godaddy got smart and they introduced a pricing schedule that started at $9 and dropped one dollar each day until on the last day, you can purchase at the original $5.
Well, a week ago, they changed it again. It now starts at $11 and goes to $10, $9 and $8. Then the last day it drops to $5.
I don’t know what happened to $7 and $6 lol, I can only guess they are still sticking to the 5 day auction so they just bumped up the first three days.
In any case. Like everything else, prices for expired domains are going up, up, UP!
Comments?
What are you noticing out there?
I’ve been trying to get my boss to jump on this for a while, buying up domains with PR and making use of them. I even built him a scanner that would automatically read through thousands of listing and look up their PR.
Not that I think it’s a brilliant idea but in the interest of diversity and keeping up with the Joneses. What do you think? Is it going to turn to poison, or is this the reason that the no-name newbies are beating us in the SERPs?
It is easy!
We are having so many competitors because you have taught so many people of how to buy domains.
Is that true?
LOL
Thank you, my dear teacher/mentor.

Hey Dori,
Yeah, I’ve seen this exact thing twice over the past several years; it’s frustrating and the prices morons like these can push domains up to is ridiculous.
Fortunately, each time I have seen this frenzy get going…the idiots run out of money in a few weeks and suddenly, everything goes back to normal.
Just ride it out

The reason why you see so many auctions going for so high is because of Alex Goad’s new product called rank builder. Along with the software, part of the method is to get expired PR domains, so you have tons of these newbies going out and bidding up all these domains on godaddy auctions. I bought in to Rankbuilder to get the software, but not sure if I’ll go in the direction of godaddy auctions until things start settling down.
Roger on the escalating cost of doing business. I’ve started letting some of my domain names expire… you know, the ones we bought thinking we’d create something someday… never enough time. So, time to let them go.
BTW, I love your tag line. “Guru? Expert? Pro? Oh No! Just another dork on the internet. ;-)”

Maybe some of the big dollar names are cornerstones for actual business ventures. The right domain name is critical.
As the art gallery director stated in the movie “Legal Eagles”; “Price is a relative thing… is it not?”
Dori,
You’re to blame for all of the price jumps….
You know it’s true!

Godaddy sucks. The prices are way too high ( must be to pay for the models). They are good for expired domains but even their tricks they do with auctions when down to the last minute bidding. If Ebay worked this way it would be out of business.
@Vaselinassa, it is the reason the no-name newbies are beating us in the SERPs! lol
@Xian, and @Brian B, lol, I wish my reach was big enough to cause such an effect, and I guess it could be true, and kick me in the a** then, but omg, I had less then 15 of you at the seminar and sold less then 15 recordings. My list JUST isn’t that big!
@Damien, yeah will ride out the morons bidding so high, but I think Godaddy’s increase is here to stay which means if I want to grab when they first reach the firesale my aquisition costs have more then doubled. =:0
@Brian, I thought it might be something like that. It will drop off then. How is the software. See Xiang and BrianB, it wasn’t me at all!! 😛
@Tom, thanks!! 😉
@Steve, very true!
@Brad, pay for their models! lol that made me laugh!
I just watched the video for RankBuilder and it sounds like a Senuke clone; anyone know how it stands up against Senuke ?
Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to test out the software. Just from looking at it and what’s in the members area, it does seem similar to SENuke and EVO, however those are around $147 per month, which I can’t justify as I won’t be using it every single day. The only reason I’m testing out RankBuilder is that I’ve bought other products from Alex Goad before and they have not been disappointing. Even if this does exactly what SENuke and EVO do, at only $67 a month, I can handle, but I’ll let you know when I finally get to it.
Brian,
Thanks for the info! Quick question…what is the quality of their link network? (# of sites, PR etc)….is it worth buying into?

Hey Dori,
I signed up for SEOnitro and am excited to use the service, but I still haven’t been able to log on. Can you help?
Well, it was only a matter of time when internet real estate was noticed to be valuable and limited.
@Brian, thanks for the info!!
@Damien, good question, Brian come back! lol
@TLG, yes I can but don’t know who you are, please email support @ seonitro.com
@Janet, yep!
I try to find who bought my sight and this is what I find? I miss my renewal by one day because I dont have a way to make an online payment and you scrape it up. It is hard enough for a small business to survive today without vultures like you. You prey on the unfortunate. You try to make a buck off the misfortunes of others and then you complain about it costing too much? You make me sick. I now have to redo all my advertising with a new site not to mention the years of advertising that site. Thanks A lot. You disgust me. Hope you made your buck.
@Dave, whoa dude, slow down! I make it a policy to give back domains to the original owner if they did not intend to let them expire. All you have to do is email me 🙂 but please be nice 😉
